Frequently Asked Questions
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 20% of 150 = (20 ÷ 100) × 150 = 30. Use the "What is X% of Y?" mode above to do this instantly.
Divide the part by the whole, then multiply by 100. For example: 30 is what % of 150? → (30 ÷ 150) × 100 = 20%. Use the "X is what % of Y?" mode above.
Subtract the original from the new value, divide by the absolute original, multiply by 100. Example: from 80 to 100 → (100 − 80) ÷ 80 × 100 = 25% increase. Use the "% Change" mode above.
A percentage point is an absolute difference between two percentages. If a rate goes from 3% to 5%, that is a 2 percentage point increase, but a 66.7% relative increase. This calculator measures relative percentage change.
Divide the known result by the percentage as a decimal. If 30 is 20% of something: 30 ÷ 0.20 = 150. You can verify using the "X is what % of Y?" mode: 30 is 20% of 150.
